Kerstin Davis subbed for Ms. Curtis – a 7th grade teacher at Bowman Middle School. Students had been writing poems in response to the destruction in Haiti. Kerstin showed the students examples of Haitiam painting and talked about narrative in work. the students then illustrated their poems in the style of the Haitian work they had seen. Kerstin also read from Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea and the students responded with painted visualizations from the story.
